    FLYER-WEB

If you’ve been following any of my updates lately then you already know that I’ve been working on some new Greenhouse material with my Weightless compadre Illogic.  We released the song “Gettin There” last week as a free download, and will be releasing the EP (Electric Purgatory Party One) that this song is featured on in November; the  free version will be available on Nov 24th, the CD version will be in stores on Dec 1st.  But if you live in Columbus you dont have to wait that long.  We are throwing a CD release party on Saturday November 28th at Skullys in Columbus to celebrate this release.

The line-up is Greenhouse (Blueprint & Illogic), Kam Moye aka Supastition, Envelope, and special guest DJ J. Rawls. There are also going to be a couple more special guest appearances that will be on the official line-up, but this is an event that you don’t wanna miss if you live in the central ohio area, so mark your calendars!

    The beauty of hip-hop

    blue-ridge-flower

I remember a few years back when I was on tour with Eyedea & Abilities, DJ Abilities and I were having a talk about sampling and hip-hop.  And how the creators of many classic hip-hop songs were masters of sampling, and their knowledge of records was just crazy.

    What happened to Myspace?

A few weeks back i saw a fellow-artist post a status update on his facebook page saying something to the effect of “wait, you mean to tell me that i spent all this time getting my myspace page looking good and now its a dead?!” and as an artist i feel his pain.

So, I figure that instead of blogging and trying to share my perspective I would ask everybody a question, and see if you all can give me your thoughts on what happened to myspace? Or better yet, what your personal story is as to why you don’t visit it as much anymore? It doesn’t have to be anything long, a couple sentences or paragraphs would work. I’m just curious about everybody’s experience.

FREE MP3 Download: “Gettin There” by Greenhouse (Blueprint & Illogic)

As many of you know the first records i ever worked on were as a part of my crew Greenhouse Effect, from Columbus Ohio.  Many things have happened and thru the years the cast has changed, and some people have come and gone.  But since we started out with this Greenhouse shit as the foundation of this the weightless recordings movement, Illogic and I have decided to continue carrying the torch.  We have been working on material together off and on for the past year or so, and will be releasing an EP called “Electric Purgatory – Part One” on Tuesday November 24th on Weightless Recordings.  The EP will be the first in a two part series that will be completely free to download.  The CD version will come with all the instrumentals and a free poster, and available at http://www.weightless.net.

So with that said, here’s a little something we decided to give to everybody as a way to get things rolling:

Binary Star tonight (10/12) in Columbus

As most of yall know, One Be Lo is the homie.  We’ve been friends for a grip and toured together a couple times.  At any rate, his crew Binary Star will be in columbus tonight (monday october 12th) at Skullys.  Considering the fact that Binary Star dropped a classic album and broke up immediately after and are now back together working on a new project and touring together again, this show should be pretty fresh.  If you’re in the mood for some good hip-hop on a monday night, then please come out. Doors are at 9pm and it’s 18+.  Also playing are L.E. (formerly of Fly Union), Bottom Brick, and The Midas Touch.  Music provided by DJ Detox.

    Braylon Edwards = 0, Lebron James = 1

    braylon-edwards

Braylon Edwards cant catch. If you’ve watched the browns play any of the past few seasons you know this is a fact.  He drops a lot of balls he should catch, and every now and then he catches something amazing that makes you think that maybe (just maybe) he really should be their #1 receiver.

Free MP3 download: “Expressway” by Blueprint

I’m curious as to how far the reach of twitter extends. Like do people really read all the tweets…or like out of how many people who follow you how many can you really reach? So this is my experiment. I’m posting this free track, but I’m only gonna announce it on twitter and see how many people are paying attention. If you’re reading this thanks for paying attention. The response to this will determine if i do more of this kind of thing in the future.

    DRINKING, DANCING, & NUNCHUCKS

I don’t have anything to say other than this is my dude Bob, playing with nunchucks at my favorite bar Carabar.  Drinking and swinging nunchucks around in a bar with other drunk people is hard to not find amazing, especially when he clears the dancefloor and gets busy with it. Great stuff if you’re bored.

WHY MTV WON, AND WHY Y’ALL LOST

    kanyewest_taylor_swift

Ok. By now everybody has seen all the shit about Kanye’s antics at the MTV awards show.  Some people are saying fuck Kanye, and they’ll never buy his records again. Other people are saying that it was all entertainment and think it was scripted.  Myself, I think Kanye is easily the most entertaining and polarizing figure in music right now, hands down.  He is to this generation of hip-hop listeners and press what KRS-ONE was to the generation before that; a figure so immensely talented, yet so willing to say and do bizarre ass shit all the time based on whatever their ego was feeling that day.  They’re not driven by money, or fame, or any of that shit; Kanye West, just like KRS is pretty much about whatever satisfies his ever-growing ego.  But that’s another topic that I’m sure is up to debate.

But I’m writing this not to talk about that, but to talk about how yall lost and how MTV won.  I’m sure you’re thinking “what are you talkin about print? how can i lose when i never played?”. well let me school you on how you lost youngin, because some of the best loses have come from people who didn’t even know they were on the field to begin with.

    Here’s how you lost:
